Anxiety and Depression

Persistent acne, especially when severe, can contribute to anxiety and depression. The constant worry about appearance and the impact on social life can take a toll on mental health.

Signs to watch for:

  • Increased focus or stress about appearance

  • Avoiding social situations or activities you once enjoyed

  • Signs of depression or anxiety, such as persistent sadness or tiredness, mood swings, excessive worry, irritability, and changes in sleep patterns

  • Changes in behavior such as withdrawing from family and friends or a decline in school performance, which can suggest emotional distress related to acne
